We had the honour and pleasure of being invited to take part in Tokyo Fashion Week in September 2023. The collection was designed by Miss Aline and refined in every detail by Maman Jolie. These creations came to life in our sewing workshops in Kenya and Madagascar.
It was a wonderful opportunity to appear once again on an international stage (the first was in Vancouver in 2022) and a marvellous chance to discover the beautiful country that is Japan. We were lucky enough to have the photos of our show republished in the prestigious magazines Vogue, Elle and Harper's Bazaar.
Maman Jolie can't wait to go back!
But before that, we have other international stages to discover very soon!
People often ask how we managed to get into these Fashion Weeks — which door we knocked on, or whether we personally know someone in the organisation. The answer is quite different: we simply never tried to get in!
With the help of my community manager and of photographers and models from Réunion, I carefully curated our social media feeds to make them beautiful and to help customers quickly grasp the quality of the garments we offer. As luck would have it, someone from the Global Fashion Collective spotted us on Instagram and invited us to join the Fashion Weeks. Thanks to that, we now travel around the world to share Couleurs d'Afrique.
Some of these outfits are then sold as one-of-a-kind pieces; others are available in the made-to-measure section (allow 5 weeks for made-to-measure orders. Please note that we only make our own designs to measure — we cannot produce your own designs).
